RICAREs

The RI Communities for Addiction Recovery efforts (RICAREs) is a grass-roots alliance dedicated to developing a voice of empowerment for and decreasing stigma about those in alcohol and other drug dependency recovery. Often, those in sustained recovery from alcohol and other drug addiction become productive, yet invisible members of our society.

RICAREs believes that all individuals suffering from addiction have the ability to recover. With this belief in mind, we empower our members by providing resources and skill development through our advocacy, peer services and community social events. We celebrate recovery and provide support for continued success as the recovery process progresses.

Additional goals include:
* put a 'positive face' on the addiction recovery process
* develop a network of volunteer advocates
* develop a group of people willing and able to provide personal stories and testimony
* educate legislators, service providers and the general public

RICAREs is:
* affiliated with the New England Alliance for Addiction Recovery (NEAR)
* administered by the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Association of Rhode Island (DATA)
