DATA is a nonprofit membership organization established in 1986 representing public and private alcohol and drug treatment, behavioral health, prevention and student assistant programs.
Advocate for quality substance abuse treatment, prevention and educational services;
Foster communication among substance abuse providers and within health/human service programs. DATA promotes training local, statewide and regional initiatives in the interest of providing the best quality services to clients based on collaboration between behavioral health organizations;
Promote the welfare of clients of drug and alcohol treatment and prevention programs and the community at large;
Train and provide technical assistance* building workforce competence of substance abuse, community health, mental health and other human service providers;
Lead prevention efforts throughout the state to educate the general public about substance abuse and other health and behavioral health risks;
Disseminate information regarding available community resources, and
Reduce stigma associated with the disease of addiction.
*DATA of RI in collaboration and partnership with the RI Council of Community Mental Health Organizations(RICCMHO) is a sub-contractor for the State of Rhode Island’s Combined Behavioral Health Training & Technical Assistance Grant. The agencies work together to provide comprehensive training programs that lead to Certifications and/or Licensing for those working in the mental health and addiction fields.
